What is a driveline?

A driveline, also known as a drivetrain, refers to the system of components that connect the engine to the wheels of a vehicle and transmit power or torque from the engine to the wheels. The driveline typically includes the transmission, driveshaft, differential, and axles. The transmission controls the speed and direction of the wheels, the driveshaft transfers power from the transmission to the differential, and the differential distributes power to the wheels. The axles are connected to the differential and support the weight of the vehicle while transmitting power to the wheels. The driveline can vary depending on the type of vehicle, such as a front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, or all-wheel drive. Maintenance and repairs to the driveline may include replacing worn parts or fluids, servicing the transmission or differential, and balancing or replacing the driveshaft.
